Relationship to JWARN: The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) recently
chose Northrop Grumman and OptiMetrics, Inc. to develop the next-generation
Joint Warning And Reporting Network (JWARN), Block II. NBCWaRN,
developed entirely by OptiMetrics, was selected to satisfy the warning
and reporting requirement in JWARN. JWARN will be integrated into all
Joint and most tactical U.S. C4I Systems in the near future. The
warning and reporting capability in JWARN and the commercial version of
NBCWaRN are identical.
Mapping: NBCWaRN overlays the ATP/AEP-45 standard NBC hazard areas on the built-in map display. This general purpose GIS provides native support for the most common map formats including ASRP, CADRG, VMAP, CIB, DTED, ESRI shapefiles, and even satellite imagery. Map coordinate conversion is easy; MGRS, UTM, and latitude/longitude systems are all supported. You can easily define map symbols including unit identifiers, and position them by 'dragging and dropping' them on to the map display. Support for the standard APP6a map symbology is built in.
Hazard Prediction: If an advanced hazard prediction model is installed, you can overlay that hazard prediction in addition to the ATP/AEP-45 areas; NBCWaRN provides seamless support for both HPAC, JEM, and ALOHA, and by design greatly simplifies the operation of those advanced models. You can also overlay agent-specific hazard areas from the integrated ERG 2004.
Messaging and Reporting: NBCWaRN is fully compliant with the latest NATO NBC warning and reporting ATP/AEP-45 standards, including all correlation algorithms and the full range of nuclear calculations. The versatile NBC message processor handles ADatP-3, USMTF, and VMF formats to assure interoperability; simply select the format you need. Audible warnings alert you to incoming high priority reports. In addition, you have full control over the types of reports that are distributed over the network and to whom they are directed.
Data Validation: All data entry screens are carefully designed to ease data entry and reduce errors. Wherever appropriate, list boxes and drop-down menus provide you with pre-defined choices; many fields are automatically filled in for you. In addition, all inputs are checked for range and consistency in order to assure the integrity of the NBC reports.
Networking: Using the integrated networking capability, the software automatically senses other NBCWaRN users on the network and transparently shares the latest NBC reports and unit locations with them in real-time. This assures that all units have a common and up-to-the-minute operational picture. The software also uses the network to automatically warn units that are operating within a hazard area. You can even run the advanced hazard predication model HPAC remotely across the network; HPAC need only be installed on one networked computer.
Customization: NBCWaRN can be readily adapted to accommodate any special needs including seamless integration with your particular C4I system; our advanced software architecture enables us to rapidly and cost-effectively customize the product.
On-line References and Utilities: NBCWaRN includes a number of other useful references and tools to support the warning and reporting task: A searchable on-line version of the ERG 2004 is integrated for ROTA and terrorist events, along with the U.S. Warning and Reporting Field Manuals. A smoke mission planning tool, guidance for constructing a flame field expedient device, and a terrain profiling tool for deploying line-of-sight sensors are also provided.
Value, Compatibility, Availability: Single license price $5,195 USD. Quantity discounts available. No other competitive software product combines all these features at so affordable a price. Requires no special hardware and works with any Windows 2000 or Windows XP desktop, laptop, or tablet computer. NBCWaRN is available now. Contact us for a price quotation or for more information.
